Sustainability and responsibility are key to Beam Suntory’s business philosophy. The company joined BIER shortly after our 2006 launch, and Rick Price has been a constant presence ever since.

With a background in scientific research, engineering, and operations, Rick has been with Beam Suntory since 1997, holding several EHS positions over the years. He is currently the Director of Global Environment, Health and Safety. In addition to his role on BIER’s Steering Committee, he lends his expertise to our Water and Benchmarking working groups, and he serves as the communication liaison for connecting his EHS counterparts at the Suntory corporate headquarters in Japan.

Rick is joined by several Beam Suntory colleagues, including sustainability leaders Takenobu Shiina and Gani Slimane, and CSR communications gurus Emily Bryson York and Christine Newton.

The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) is a technical coalition of leading global beverage companies working together to advance environmental sustainability within the beverage sector. Formed in 2006, BIER is a common voice across the beverage sector, speaking to influence global standards on environmental sustainability aspects most relevant to the sector, affect change both up and down the supply chain and share best practices that raise the bar for environmental performance of the industry. By doing so, BIER is able to monitor data and trends, engage with key stakeholders, develop best practices, and guide a course of action for the future.
